Vintage Cowrie Shells Woven Headdress/Headband

This is a Vintage Woven Fiber Headdress with

Cowrie shells from Papua New Guinea.

This is in perfect condition and a beautiful headband.

This headdress is woven from natural fiber

decorated by individually sewing each Cowrie shell

over the surface.

At the middle of the headdress attached

tow boar teeth,

and above the eyes were sewn with

Cowrie shells for shaped boar head.

On the front the fibers are painted with natural pigment.

Approximately measurements:

Across the headdress 13 inches (32 cm)

The length 6 inches (15 cm)

I was in Papua New Guinea in 2000 and

purchased this item
