From Patricia Highsmith, presented is a first printing of the First American Editions of one of her scarcest early novels, “The Two Faces of January” (valued in fine condition upwards of $1000+), Details are below.

“The Two Faces of January” (NY, Crime Club/Doubleday, 1964) - a stated “First Edition in the United States of America”, first printing per convention, of one of her rare hard to find novels and the basis of the 1964 film. The book is in good condition with a few minor flaws. The spine has a shelf cant but is reasonably firm (not as tight as avery goodcopy) with no damage to joints or gutters. Yellow boards show some light soiling. Lower rear corner has a light bump and page ends show minor age soiling. Interior contents are in very good condition with no names or marks to text and no foxing. Pastedowns and RFEP are very clean. Front free end paper has a penciled 1st Ed 1st $400 and below it a partial stamp showing the number 50 (see photo). In brodart cover, the rare dust jacket is in near very good condition, price intact ($3.50) with tiny chips at corners and heel and three small chips and adjacent closed tear at crown. Rear top edge has a very short closed tear and folds have some light wear and rubbing.
