Paul Landacre (American 1893-1963)is probably the best-known wood engraver on the west coast. The skill of his engravings make him one of the best printmakers of the first third of the 20th century. \"Campers\" is a windswept view of the California coastline that I am told still looks as pristine as it does in this engraving from 1939. I hope you can see the incredibly dramatic use of cross hatching used in the clouds. Excellent condition. Unsigned as issued by the Colophon Book Collectors\' Quarterly in 1939 in an edition of 2500.
