Paul Revere Copper was applied to the keel in building the USS Constitution Warship. This ashtray was made from the copper removed from the ship during the major restoration in 1927. This relic was sold to raise funds for the famous ship\'s restoration. It is a peace of American Naval History! Embossed in the ashtray are famous battles in which the ship took part. This is a great unique Christmas gift for a the sailor, history buff in your family!

1927 U.S. Frigate Constitution Copper Ashtray Made From Items Produced by Paul Revere Foundry for the Ship!
1927-Dated, USS Constitution Medallion Cast Copper Commemorative Ashtray, Made from relic Material taken from the famous U.S. Frigate Constitution, Extremely Fine.
This Copper Commemorative Ashtray measuring approx. 4.5\" in diameter and 6.25\" wide across the side cigarette rests, was cast from the original Copper taken from parts of \"Old Ironsides\" the famous American Frigate USS Constitution during its 1927-1930 restoration. This Ashtray features a central medallion depicting the USS Constitution under full sail with cast text upon the medallion that reads, \"Old Ironsides\" and \"U.S. Frigate Constitution\". Further text on the central Medallion reads \"Launched 1797 - 1804 Tripoli - 1812 Guerriere - 1813 Cyane Levant\". Text along the rim of the Ashtray reads, \"This Material Was Taken From U.S. Frigate Constitution - Keel Laid 1794 - Rebuilding 1927\".

The Revere Foundry in Canton Massachusetts produced all of the original copper nails, spikes, bolts, pins and sheathing for the USS Constitution and for other early Navy frigates circa 1797. The Copper used to make this very Ashtray would have come from some of those copper items produced by Paul Revere (1734-1818) for the Ship!! This Copper Ashtray is very heavy and in excellent condition with no wear or damage of any kind. It retain a rich, warm surface patina that is 100% original and age appropriate. There is some surface tarnish as well as some minor surface verdigris but overall this Ashtray is very well preserved and displays beautifully.

A very rare and wonderful piece of American Historical Memorabilia and a remarkable early United States Navy Relic being a Cast Copper Ashtray made from material taken from the USS Constitution itself. A great tribute to the oldest ship still in active use by the U.S. Navy.
