Pendant Ivory-Colored Bone Carved Scarab w Heiroglyphs Charm Amulet 14K 18K:

This beautifully carved, bone scarab is set in gold. Scarabs like this typically were made of ivory, but this is carved of horn or bone as ivory would have been illegal. The carving is very intricate and shows legs and mouth as well as the little brushy things around the bottom of the beetle\'s shell. Thehieroglyphson the back side are birds, fish, and other lines. I purchased this at a very high-end jewelry store in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 1984 and the gold was from Italy and the other charms and chains we purchased at the same time were 18K. I have listed it as 14K but I am almost sure it is 18K. This piece isn\'t stamped, so I have to give the buyer the benefit of my lack of certification!
The scarab will come nicely wrapped in an organza gift bag.
