Peter Jay(born 7 February 1937) is a British economist, broadcaster and diplomat.

Jay was appointed to the important post ofAmbassadorto theUnited Statesby theForeign Secretary, his friendDavid Owen. As Jay was just 40 years old, was not a diplomat and had never held any public office, the appointment caused some controversy and accusations ofnepotism.

In the early 1970s, Jay was the principal presenter of theLondon Weekend TelevisionSunday news analysis programmeWeekend World. In 1972, Jay co-authored, with his friendJohn Birt, a series of articles forThe Timeswhere they criticised standard television journalism and developed what came to be called their \"mission to explain\".

As leader of a consortium of high-profile media figures, includingAngela Rippon,David Frost,Michael ParkinsonandAnna Ford, he won the franchise and became the founding chairman ofTV-am, a breakfast TV station launched by the consortium. When the initial focus on news and current affairs did not yield economic success, he was fired by his friend and co-directorJonathan Aitken.

Peter Jay\'s career took a surprising turn when he became Chief of Staff toRobert Maxwellduring his most high-profile years. His wife Margaret led Maxwell\'s Aids Foundation around the same time, where she met her present husband Professor Mike Adler.

Peter Jay returned to broadcast journalism and became Economics Editor of the BBC, specially appointed by John Birt, and presented editions ofThe Money Programme.

Jay wroteThe Road to Riches or the Wealth of Man(2000,Weidenfeld & Nicolson) and presented a related BBC TV documentary series.

Jay is a supporter ofKeynesian economics. He has debated with economistsMilton FriedmanandThomas Sowell, including two episodes of Friedman\'s TV seriesFree to Choose(1980). He was also the moderator of the discussions in the British version ofFree to Choose.

He was a non-executive director of theBank of Englandfrom June 2003 to May 2009.He has been a governor of theDitchley Foundationsince 1982 and is a councillor onWoodstockTown Council.

We have had a great amount of success internationally and want to do what we can to continue to sell our items worldwide. There are too many orders which are not being received in a timely fashion, or lost etc. and this apparently is the only way to keep both of us honest. Cost Of Shipping Rates Are As Follows:

Shipping rate for single album page or index card or small items will be $2.50 for first class shipping which includes delivery confirmation.

Photos and other items will be $4.30 for first class shipping which includes delivery confirmation when shipped within USA.

Priority shipping will be $6.70 which includes delivery confirmation.

Out of the USA shipping sent overseas will be $10.00..This does not include Canada.

Save on Shipping with our multiple shipping discount. Simply add .25 cents on all wins to the single item price. We do ask that all multiple wins be paid for within 14 days of the first sale win. No additional fee charges to deliveries outside of the United States and Canada.

All items shipped in reinforced shipping mailer. Shipping is done every day, and done 5 to 6 times a week. Any large lists of 15 item or more items may take up to 5 days before items are shipped depending upon volume. All efforts are made to ship immediately.

Our shipping is not actual shipping costs. For simplicity we charge a normal fee and if we over charge too much we do refund shipping back by Paypal. We do not profit in shipping. We send all items in a reinforced mailer or protected envelope. Each mailer costs about $1.00 and oversized costs us more. Plus tape gas etc. In other words these are extras which people seem to overlook or expect us to take a loss on in the end. We also have a shipper help package the items so that you can get your items more quickly. All overseas charges are for most destinations and some destinations may require additional fees because of size or weight and will then charge to actual cost of shipping for items when shipping is $12.00 not including the registered shipping fee. We are one of the last who have had to change our out of the USA shipping charges. This is done simply because of lost items, and items delivered in a very slow fashion by out of the USA postal services. Also because to keep up with Ã¢â‚¬â„¢s expectations with us a seller.
