Perhaps the most singular work to emanate from the great 19th century American Historian Benson Lossing. A superb study by a singular historian who actually consulted original primary source material and traversed many of the sights he discusses in this two volume history of the American revolution - when most historians of the time only consulted secondary sources from their libraries. This work and others by Lossing set the stage for historical methodology and historiography for future generations of American historians.
