Fabulous antique French whole cloth quilt, with masses of lovely pink roses, beautifully faded with time. The hand stitching in red makes it even more striking. This is absolutely gorgeous!
The quilt front was made with two long panels of the same floral cotton fabric. First few photos are best for color. The back is a cream toned cotton, and I believe there is cotton batting between the layers. The trim is made from the roses fabric. Soft and floppy, but still rather heavy, at 3 lbs 8 oz. It measures about 70 x 82 inches.
In lovely, slightly timeworn condition. Estate fresh and unlaundered. I note some minor surface dirt/dust. The edges are all rather worn, and I note old repairs to keep them from unraveling further, also extra stitching on the center seam. A few small holes in the floral fabric, mostly along the center seam, though there are others. But very difficult to notice - this quilt is in good shape, and looks incredible!
