You are offerding on the EXQUISITE Herend Hungary Porcelain China Tea (or coffee) Set Tete a Tete set that you see pictured. Thisgorgeous 10 piece setincludes the traycharger, teapot/coffee pot with rose budlid, lidded sugar, creamer,2 cups and 2 saucers. I am selling this for a friend, and she tells me she purchased this at a Trunk Show in the early 2000s and paid about $12K. All pieces are hand painted, signed bythe (2) artists whopainted them. The artists\' names are a bit hard to readand from what I can see they both worked on this set - The set is in EXCELLENT condition: free from chips, cracks, and repairs.She used the set for display only!! The pattern is Frankenthal - made in Hungary.

From the folks that sponsored the Trunk Show: \"Conceived in the second half of the nineteenth century, the Frankenthal décor consists of paintings of songbirds. The birds, with their bright plumage, perch in fields with gold volutes and bright green garlands of foliage, with sparse undergrowth beneath them. The blue sky is depicted as in a water color, along with a cavalcade of bushes and bright flowers. The bird paintings are augmented by bouquets of garden and meadow flowers surrounded by gilded volutes. In between the exquisite paintings there are shield-shaped decorative fields bearing a design of gold bands that divide white and cobalt-blue triangles.\"

(BTW, \"volute\" is a spiral scroll characteristic of Ionic capitals and also used in Corinthian and composite capitals.) :-)
