This is an adorable Pastille Burner made by Coalport. It is in the shape of a charming country English country cottage – all oddly shaped and covered in flowering vines It has some nice age - dating back to the late 19th century, when it would have been used to mask the strong odors of Victorian households. The pastille (cone of incense) would have sat on its interior floor and the smoke would have wafted out the chimney. The cottage is in excellent condition. This pastille burner would make a lovely addition to any collection and could still be used for burning incense. It is hard to believe that something so old and pretty could still be quite functional. At any rate this porcelain cottage would make a delightful accent piece in any room in the house.
