Portable Dentist Stand - Weber Dental Manufacturing Co. - Early 1900\'s - VERY RARE
This stand breaks down into 10 or so heavy duty metal pieces that are stored inside a box that also serves as the base for the unit when assembled. The heavy duty wooden box has a metal top and measures 16\"x16\"x5\". It has a metal label: Weber - Weber Dental Manufacturing Co., Canton, Ohio, Made in USA. This piece dates between 1900 and the mid 1930\'s. Otherwise, I am not sure of it’s exact history... it is obviously a dentist’s stand with instrument tray and spit sink (or spittoon). These parts are adjustable in height and swivel around to different positions. It’s also obviously portable, but why? For camp or field use? Military issue? It’s a bit of a mystery, but is also an incredibly interesting and rare artifact.
Everything is solid as a rock and still in good working order, as shown in the photo. Of course, it is still an antique and shows signs of age and use, as expected. The exterior of the box / base has some paint chips flaking off a bit. The original kit must also have had some electronic equipment such as light and/or drill... it looks like they would have inserted into the top of the assembled unit in the attachment provided (see photo). The metal label on the box also shows some specifications for amps, cycles, volts, and serial number.
I can’t really ship this due to size and weight, but you can pick it up in Bean Station, Tennessee (less than 1 hour NE of Knoxville and 1 hour from the Smoky Mountains... a nice place to visit if you haven’t been here!). If you change your mind when you see it there’s no obligation, of course.
