For your consideration a beautiful example of the Mersey Pattern by Davenports Ltd. Longport in a Blue and White Transferware. This lovely pattern in itself is scarce with very few pieces coming to the marketplace and I have only seen one other tureen in this pattern in the red with. This tureen is in amazing condition with no chips, nips, cracks or repairs and thetransfer itself is almost completely intact with no noticeableloss of pattern or design.There is some crazing on the bottom of the interior and a tiny firing crack near the handle on the top (see images).The glaze is still glossy with extremely slight minimal staining.Both the lid and the bottom of the tureen are clearly marked under the glaze in blue. It measures 13\" long from tip of handle to tip of handle, 7 1/4\" wide and stands 7\" tall. This beautiful rarity AestheticMovement Tureen was produced from around the 1840\'s to 1860\'s in the Staffordshire District and would surly be make a wonderful centerpiece to any collection.
