Post Civil War albumen from Port Jervis, NY showing a possible army veteran and amputee missing his left arm. From an album containing war time and post war images all from Port Jervis and Middletown, NY, and Matamoras, PA. In seeking out a possible ID for this man I learned about Ira Gordon, an 18-year old private who enlisted with the 124th New York Infantry in 1862. Gordon was wounded at Gettysburg and lost his arm; he was subsequently discharged for disability in October 1863. After the war Gordon remained in Port Jervis for several decades before moving west to Marysville, Ohio, shortly before his death in 1906. Because this image is UNSIGNED I cannot say for sure if he is Gordon but the possibility is interesting! This will be a good image to research further.
I ship to the lower 48 states only. Please contact me if you have any questions!
