About the Printer: The Meriden Gravure Company was founded in Meriden, Connecticut, in 1888 by Charles Parker and James F. Allen, and grew out of an earlier printing endeavor by Parker. Driven by the needs of the local silver industry, the company early developed an expertise in high quality image reproduction. It perfected the use of the full-tone collotype printing method, and soon attracted business from other clients who required highly detailed image reproduction, including scientific journals, museums, libraries, and publishers of illustrated books. By the mid-twentieth century, the company was also using offset printing presses, for which it pioneered the use of the fine screened 300-line halftone process for art reproduction and scholarly facsimiles. Both reproduction methods were in use through 1967, when the collotype presses were retired. The company first offered color printing in the 1940s. In 1977 the company merged with Stinehour Press of Vermont, becoming Meriden-Stinehour Press. In 1989 the Meriden facility closed, and all operations moved to Lunenberg, Vermont.

About Shipping and Handling: All postcards are enclosed in protective sleeves. Postcards are mailed First Class. Tracking is now required by , which is why shipping is now over $2 -- tracking requires that even postcards be shipped as a first class PACKAGE -- which is far more expensive than simply mailing as a first class letter. I package with cardstock or heavier weight paper protecting both sides of the card. I am happy to combine shipping if you buy more than one item from me. Please ask for adjusted shipping amount before payment. If you don\'t ask before payment, I will refund part of the shipping cost to your PayPal account. Normally you will only pay shipping for the first card.

My shipping charge includes a small handling and packing materials charge, which covers the cost of the packaging and transportation to a post office. I try to use recycled materials for packaging as practical and possible, but there are going to be some costs involved with packaging.

About response: I always post positive response and I appreciate your positive response in return. If you have any problems at all with your purchase, please contact me so that we can resolve the issue!

NOTE: Tracking is not available for INTERNATIONAL shipments. These will continue to be sent via International First Class mail.
