M1833 Dragoon Saber dated 1838. Markings on the blade are very faint. United States over Laurel leaves on one side. Np Ames Springfield 1838 on the other. All inspector marks are visible MPL ( Major Paige Lomax) ORD and WC (William Smith) on brass hand guard. I purchased this sword from person who stated she was the descendant of a Confederate officer. The seller gave me some of her family members to research. She also claimed the saber had been appraised for 2000.00 because of history. I have not researched the family lineage at this point. Its a historic Saber even without the story.
