Prehistoric Fossilized Raptor Dinosaur Egg Of Oviraptor Cretaceous Period Fossil For Sale

Prehistoric Fossilized Raptor Dinosaur Egg Of Oviraptor Cretaceous Period Fossil

A very rarePrehistoric Fossil - A Fossilized Dinosaur Egg of the Oviraptor, dating to the Late Cretaceous Period (approximately 100 - 65 Million years before present).

This is a well preserved specimen, withoutmajor restorations and with a well displayed stippled shell. The Egg has been painstakingly chiseled from its matrix (surrounding rock). The overall aesthetic of the piece is spectacular, and surpasses the vast majority of Dinosaur Eggs that appear on the market. A striking display piece and a good financial investment.

The Oviraptor was a beaked, feathered dinosaur that inhabited our planet approximately 75 million years ago. The prehistoric creature was at least partly carniverous, eating small lizards and perhaps even using its powerful beak to crush clams and other mollusks. The creature is known to have inhabited parts of modern-day Inner Mongolia and became extinct with the rest of the dinosaurs during the cataclysmic K-T extinction event.

Lengthof egg:6 1/4 inches.

Condition: Very good, as shown.

Provenance:

Ex. British Private Collection. Previously in a European private collection and purchased on the Hong Kong Art market many years ago.

Please note; this is a genuine, highly collectible Oviraptor egg offered with to promote our store.
