Albumen photo on mount titled, \"Funeral Car of President Lincoln, New York, April 26th, 1865.\" Small print under image reads, \"Entered according to act of Congress, in the Year 1879, by P. Relyea, in the office of the Librarian of Congress at Washington.\" Writing on reverse reads, \"Abraham Lincoln Funeral Car made by Peter Relyea - New York. Mr. P. Relyea at head of procession - 7th Reg\'t at side.\"

Peter Relyea (1815 - 1896) was an undertaker who was in charge of Lincoln\'s funeral procession through the streets of New York. He worked day and night to design and construct the elaborate catafalque that would carry Lincoln\'s remains. He was paid the then-astounding sum of $9000 for his services for the Lincoln funeral procession.

While this image surfaces on rare occasion in cabinet card format, this is the first I have seen in this larger size.

* CONDITION: Good with some fading to background of image (not unusual with this image), a half inch vertical tear at the the bottom center edge of the mount, and edges have been trimmed.

* SIZE: Approximately 10 3/4 x 12 1/4 inches. Actual albumen measures 8 x 11 1/4 inches.
