President Andrew Jackson Autographed 1812 Pay Voucher Signed as Major General:
$710.00

Beautiful hand written and signed pay voucher in the hand of (then) Major General Andrew Jackson who later would become a hero of the War of 1812 and the 7th US President.
As a military and presidential autograph collector, this piece held a special place in my heart and was the centerpiece of my modest early US militaria collection (I focused more so on the CW period).
Jackson\'s penned pay voucher promises payment of $91.05 to William Nash for use of his services for transportation of baggage for detachment(s) under his command., During the early period of the US military private civilians were paid (and profited) from the need for the nation\'s young military force for transportation and other necessities. Jackson signed and dated the voucher as Major General, in Nashville Tennessee on 4/22/1813.
Hand laid paper, bearing anindecipherable watermark.
Other than folds, creases and some mild paper loss for a 202 year old document, the voucher remains is superb condition. It was purchased at sale in Bucks County PA in a divided document lot, with connections to William Nash, including land deeds, family records, etc.
The document with ship unframed to reduce shipping costs and possible damage with mailing glass. Guaranteed authentic!
