PHENOMENAL VINTAGE GILLETTE BRITISH ROCKET FLARE TIP SAFETY RAZOR!
(sale is for razor only ~ sorry! Props in photos are to display that no filters, etc were used.)Mechanical Condition:
- TTO is functioning perfectly. Doors open and close smoothly and tight. One door lays open slightly further than the other, this will not affect function and is so slight it would go unnoticed without close inspection. Blade is secure. Knob turns freely to both open and close. Blade gaps are even and pictured.
- Beautiful Razor, exceptionally shiny and clean. Finish is just excellent ~ perhaps a hint of a haze on the butterfly doors, but this is so negligible I can not even state for sure. The finish is really stunning in person! Please use the zoom feature on the photos to look closely and remember this is a 50+ year old vintage, used razor. There may be tiny, incidental marks, scratches etc from use. Anything of damage or that may be considered detracting to the razor will always be described.
- The British flare tips have become a very popular shaver although harder to find than the 1940\'s Style Rocket ~ mainly their reputation and ability to maneuver those small tricky spots with perfect balance. Many shavers feel they are slightly more aggressive than their Super Speed American Counterpart but are known for leaving baby smooth skin without pressure, razor burns or nicks and give an incredible shave with their deceivingly small size. These razors were made to last in an age of craftsmanship we don\'t see anymore.
- Every razor I sell is meticulously gone over and hand cleaned and cared for. If time was money, these would probably leave me broke, but I truly love being able to bring these fabulous tools back to what they were meant to be and see them go to people who will care for them and enjoy the luxury of a shave the way it was supposed to be. These will last another lifetime if properly cared for!
- Razors are soaked and hand cleaned in a 5-7 step process, depending on the condition. This process, although time consuming, will ensure no remnants of any previous use remain. I guarantee your razor is completely clean before anything else is done.
- Once cleaned, it is hand polished with a high end, chrome safe polish until restored to the closest original condition. This process and products used will also stabilize any finish loss present.
- Razor is then put through a 2 step, mild cleaning process to remove any traces of polish.
- After all of that, it is sterilized in professional equipment that is safe for the razor, as well as rendering it ready to use!
- Lastly, it is lubricated with high grade lubricant.
- None of my razors are ever boiled or cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner. This will often result in damage to the mechanics of the razor.
- Razors are ready to go upon receipt but should be rinsed well prior to use from shipping.
- If sale includes a case or other shaving accessories they are also put through rigorous cleaning. Often there will be some staining with these items due to age but they are cleaned with FDA-Cleared Sterilant/High Level Disinfectant used for processing re-usable medical and dental devices. This will not affect the integrity of the item.
- Your new razor will last you years with very simple care! Make sure to rinse it well after each use and remove the blade. If you notice any soap scum build up, simply give it a good overnight soak in some mild dish detergent, like Dawn. Or even easier ~ give it a run through the dishwasher! Just make sure to use LIQUID detergent and not the powder or cubes as these contain abrasives that can damage your razor. And most importantly, enjoy your shave with this timeless piece ~ they don\'t make things like they used to!
- I put forth what is probably a ridiculous effort (an average razor takes hours over the course of several days) to make these razors as perfect as they can be and I want my buyers to be thrilled when they open their package.
