This device, like so many of these, was bought and likely never used. There is a famous old European film (The name in Czech is: Postrižiny (“The Cutting”)) where a man used a violet-ray device to seduce a MUCH younger girl into having sex with him. So of course, every man who saw this film went out and bought one in hopes of seducing women AND every woman who saw the film was on guard for men who had this device; THUS the devices were not often (or never) used.

Origin/History: Found in an estate sale in New York.

Function/Use: Used for massages and sexual stimulation. These were advertised as a potential cure for warts, toothaches, obesity, pimples, insomnia, jaundice, deafness, dandruff, diarrhea, hemorrhoids, headaches, sexual dysfunction, etc., etc., etc..

Structure/Composition: Boxed kit consist of:

One (1) VERY thick (~1½ inches in diameter) Bakelite wand-holder. Has a rubber power cord with a rubber plug. Wand holder has a dial switch on the end with the electric cord for adjusting the intensity of the wand.
One (1) circular ended glass tube wand with a flat face.
The original owner\'s manual with instructions (and cautions) for its use.
The original felt-lined carrying case. Case is made of wood with a leatherette or vinyl covering.

Usage/Wear-and-Tear: In excellent, near-mint condition. FULLY FUNCTIONAL & TESTED. Bakelite wand-holder is not chipped, not cracked and not scratched. Year Made/Approximate Age: Undated, but these devices were popular in the late 1800\'s to the 1920\'s.

Mark(s): Bakelite wand-holder is marked \"PATENT PENDING\" & a model number (BD-10). The owner\'s manual is rubber-stamped with the retailer name of \"WOCHER\'S\" of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Unique Characteristics: In like-new condition. The interior is clean and without dust. The Bakelite parts are still shiny and without scratches. The box exterior is ALMOST perfect with the leatherette cover being scuffed up on the corners. It even smells clean!
