Chapters include bread making, folding napkins, butter and cheese,kitchen recipes, laundry recipes, furniture and woodwork, cosmetics and toiletrecipes, diseases and home recipes, care of birds and aquarium, in manymiscellaneous formulas and recipes. A very complete chapter on ”the dining room,” details the manyand complex rules and regulations that must be followed.

For oatmeal:

“If oatmeal or porridge of any kind is to be served at thebeginning of the meal, a saucer should stand in each plate in the spoon be laidbeside it.

The oatmeal should be placed by the hostess, who serves it,adding cream and sugar herself, or passing these, as seems best to her whenthis is eaten, the saucers and platesmaybe removed and hot plates be brought in, together with the rest of thebreakfast.”

An enormous book, in pretty good condition with the following flaws: Spine is brittle and barely hanging on at the first few pages. Other wear as shown in photos.
