Description
A very good quality carriage clock circa 1900 by R&Co. of Paris. This beautifully made clock complete with original silvered platform escapement, running for 8 days and the two train mechanism striking on a gong. The clock is running well and comes with winding key. Very nicely presented save two small chips to the glass in the backdoor. Perfect!
The clock weighs 1.54kg before wrapping. It stands 7" high (handle up), 3.7" wide" and 3.1" deep.
The 8 day clock keeps good time and is fitted with its original, silvered lever platform escapement. Once on the half hour and the number of hours on the hour the clock strikes the coiled gong - a gentle but audible sound suitable, perhaps, for a bedroom or quiet room setting.
The polished brass, corniche style case is bright, undamaged and with original floating base underneath - this with a multitude of signatures from previous horologists\' servicing. The top of the clock features a wide, oval lenticle and all the glasses are bevel edged and perfect save the pane in the backdooor. The porcelain dial clean and free from hairlines.
A very handsome, larger sized carriage clock from this well regarded maker...
