For sale is thisreally amazing binding salvaged from a sammelband that was being rebound inseparate volumes. This is an early panel stamped binding in what appear to be sheep. Sheep is notorious for not holding tooled impression very well over time so thetooling on this binding is somewhat hard to decipher. I have tried to transcribed what is tooled on the binding and have added myrough sketches as to what is visible.
The binding is sheep over quarter sawn beech boards.Clasps are missing. Theinside of the spine still retain the vellum manuscript lining with text visible.The cover appears to show a panel stampdepicting crosses. Around the the panel stamp are tooled letters spelling the words: ? V N O R V ??? N ? V M I R E ? M S 1526
On the back cover is :TRIBVNTVR - AGEN TRECESIVS MGN ET DIS ???VEGVE POSTILLAS LITERAZ
