DescriptionA VERY FINE EARLY 18TH CENTURY CONNECTICUT QUEEN ANNE SIDECHAIR WITH BOLD CRISP TURNINGS AND STILL RETAINING A GREAT ORIGINAL DARK RED AND VERY GRUNGY PAINTED SURFACE WITH SOME LATER 19TH CENTURY GOLD HIGHLIGHT LINE DECORATION. CONNECTICUT SHORELINE AREA, Circa 1740-1760 IN MAPLE AND ASH AND STILL RETAINING ITS ORIGINAL RUSH SEAT.
IT HAS A VERY FINE SCROLLED TOP CREST AND TURNED POSTS. THE SAWN QUEEN ANNE SPLAT IS VERY EARLY IN DESIGN. IT STILL RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL TURNED FEET.
THE SURFACE IS A GREAT ORIGINAL DARK RED PAINT, VERY GRUNGY. IT IS OVER THE ORIGINAL RED BASE STAIN. IN THE EARLY 19TH CENTURY THEY ADDED SOME VERY SUBTLE GOLD LINE DECORATION INCLUDING A COUPLE OF STARS ON THE CREST. THIS DECORATION PROBABLY DATES WITH THE WAR OF 1812.
IT HAS NICE COLOR AND PATINA.
THE CONDITION OF THIS CHAIR IS EXTREMELY FINE.
ALL THE ORIGINAL COMPONENTS ARE INTACT.
NO REPAIRS OR RESTORATIONS.
This is a very stable chair and was being used on a daily basis.
The original rush seat is well worn with losses and breaks. It was being used with a seat cushion.
This great chair stands 42\" tall. Seat height is 17 1/2\".
