DescriptionFRESH FROM A GREAT COLLECTION OF EARLY FURNITURE.
WE SOLD THE IDENTICAL MATE TO THIS CHAIR ABOUT A MONTH AGO. WE ACQUIRED THIS ONE A FEW DAYS LATER. THE CREST IS MADE OF TWO PIECES. WE HAD OUR CABINETMAKER EXAMINE IT AND BOTH HE AND I AGREE THAT THE PIECE WAS MADE LIKE THAT. THE SURFACE IS IDENTICAL AS IS THE TOOL MARKS. THE HARDNESS OF THE WOOD AND THE PAINT SURFACE IS ALSO IDENTICAL AND IT HAS THE PROPER SHRINKAGE.

AN EXTREMELY RARE WILLIAM AND MARY CONNECTICUT BANNISTER BACK SIDE CHAIR, Circa 1710-1730 WITH BOLD TURNED POSTS WITH CONFORMING BANNISTERS AND A GREAT DOUBLE CROWN CREST ALL IN THE BEST OLD GRUNGY ORIGINAL BLACK PAINTED SURFACE. CONNECTICUT, MAPLE AND ASH. A VERY BOLD CHAIR WITH THE BEST TOP AND BOTTOM CRESTS IN FANTASTIC OLD BLACK PAINT.
A period, first quarter 18th Century William and Mary American Bannister Back chair with a fully developed and scrolled carved modified DOUBLE CROWN crest, a highly developed and turned DOUBLE ACORN finial, THREE BOLD bannisters all in a wonderful ORIGINAL BLACK PAINT.
GREAT FULL HEIGHT TURNIP FRONT FEET.
THE BLACK PAINT IS GRUNGY AND WORN.
THIS IS AN EXTREMELY BOLD FIRST PERIOD BANNISTER BACK CHAIR.
This chair is very fine condition retaining its original highly developed top crest, the bottom crest, the bannisters, stretchers and seat lists. Every original wooden peg is intact.
THERE ARE NO REPAIRS OR RESTORATIONS. (see above, the top crest is made of two pieces but is all original).
This great chair stands 43\" tall. The seat height is 17 3/4\" and is 20\" across.
THE FEET ARE ALL ORIGINAL AND THERE ARE NO LOSSES.
