This is a 49 mm (about 2 inch) in diameter, 53-gram (1.8 ounce)1900 Franco-Belgium Bronze Art Nouveau Award Medal for the improvement inbreeding pigs. The medal was awarded ata national Agricultural Contest held in BrusselsApril 21-22, 1900. The obverse features a ½ portrait of King Leopold II of Belgium. It was sculpted by French Sculptor by LucienCoudray (1864-1932) and struck at the Monnaie de Paris. It is edge marked BRONZE along with theCornucopia Mint Mark. I have NEVER seena French medal produced for a Belgiumevent. The Belgians were more thancapable of producing their own works and had many talented sculptors. Themedal is in MINT CONDITION.
