This is a wonderful traditional Russian bread salt wooden plate. The language is Cyrillic old Russian. The Russians had a tradition if you came to the house as a guest they would put out bread and you were to dip it in salt and eat it to say thank you for having us. If you did not eat it that was very much frowned upon. This plate measures 12 inches. There is one very small spot where the wood is chipped. 3 Of these plates sold at the Russian Spring Sale 2014 at the Chelsea sale House for $950.00.
