Wonderful Edwardian Hallmarked Solid Sterling Silver Castle Top Card Case Made ByWilliam J Holmes
Description -SuperbantiqueEdwardiansolid silver Card Case with hinged lid,both sides ofthe Card Case hashighreliefembossed decoration with delightful scrolling acanthus leaves.
One side has central image of Windsor Castle and the other has ascrollshapevacantcartouche, the lid also has a vacant cartouche.
The interior is silver-gilt (Gold washed)
The Card Case is fully hallmarked with the Anchor for Birmingham assay, the lion passant indicating 925 grade solid sterling silver, the date letter \"d\" for the year 1903 and the maker\'s mark \"W.J.H\" which isWilliam J Holmes.
Condition -There arenumerousholes in higherreliefof the decoration due to 113 years of polishing.
There is damage to on the lid (please see end photograph) also a split along front edge of the lid.
There is push-in, dents and dinks on the sides and corners the sides.
the hinge is in good working order closing the lid securely but does have some wobble.
The interior silver gilt has a bit of wear.
Dimensions & Weight -The Card Case is 10.1cm long x 7cm wide, the weight is 55.6 grams. The card case is suitable for credit/debit cards to fit.
