This sale is for a rare likely one of a kind hand carved figural bottle stopper in the form of a crow. Carved out of a single piece of wood it was obviously created by an extremely skilled craftsman-note the open areas left by the carver in the mouth and legs. The detail is excellent and the item is a great example of folk art. Approx 5 3/4\" in overall height, the crow itself is approx 4 1/2\" with width and depth of approx 1 1/4\", the diameter of the part that inserts in the bottle is approx 1/2\"-we have displayed it in an old double eagle bottle from the 1920s. The wood appears to be walnut.
