length appx. 7 inches (seated rider).....almost 11 inches (with rider thrown forward most)
made in germany... towards start of last century......nice rare early version,with latest patent date of 1907.....toy made over long time span...manylater examples made on into 1930\'s with patent dates right up to 1927 can be found,see couple later versions #131424249673 #291408765096.
tinplate construction with super modelled cowboy riding his horse....wind-up/clockwork motor.
a true toy of its time....with the popularity/story of the cowboy and disappearing \"wild west\", and inspired by the 1890\'s/1900\'s world famous BUFFALO BILL CODY TRAVELLING WILD WEST CIRCUS SHOW.
fantastic antique action toy....on a solid surface,once carefully wound,the whole toy will move forward in a large circular direction...at same time the fully articulated horse will repeatedly buck the cowboy forward over the horses head...and then automatically re-seat him....and continue the cycle.....GREAT STUFF!
have owned this for almost 15 years...definately one of the best designed lehmann action toys...and DISPLAYS NICELY..... GREAT PIECE OF AMERICANA.
condition as shown,has clearly been loved & enjoyed over the years...retains nice colour, with clear age/play wear....chips,scuffs,scratches etc...has a part worn lower tab on front right-side mouth area,where reins connect...was like this when i purchased,doesn\'t affect action....has original fixed-key winder which winds-up to power the bucking action and drive the toy forward. ....has unusual (early?)single wheel rear axle set-up,the centre wheel is permanent cast/fixed on its axle.
