Medium:Egg tempera on the wood panel. Painted against a silvered background.

Size: 15 \" high x 12 \" wide [38 cm x 30.5 cm]; thickness of the panel 3/4 inch [2 cm]

Condition: Good and stable state of preservation typical for the antique 19th Century Russian Icon. Two slats on verso are missing. See photographs.

Important provenance:This icon is from the Estate of the Duchess of Caylus, Ludmila Progery ( the dynasty of the Duke of Caylus, d 1679) The Duchess was the niece of the Russian artist Alexandre Yevgenyevich Iacovleff (Russian-French, 1887-1938). Good friends andneighborsof the Duchess home in Tuxedo, New York, The Callvery family, were a Distant relatives of Abraham Lincoln.
