RARE Antique 18th Century Buddhist Bronze Prayer Wheel Scroll Amulet Pendant:

This antique amulet was acquired by my mother, a Catholic missionary nurse living in Thailand. Some were acquired when visiting Buddhist temples near the hospital where she worked. We have posted a picture of Bertha above; the founder of Church-Woman Antiques.

Historical meaning:

This Amulet is engraved on the outside surface, androlled up inside is a flat strip of bronze where traditionally a highlyrespected and beloved Buddhist monk would have scratched a special prayer forthe wearer to help him/her on the path to nirvana.

The diameter is 5/8th inch, and it is ½”across; it weighs 12 grams. This is a one of a kind piece that is approximately200 years old, and entirely original.
