RARE antique and COMPLETE John Deere board game- \"Master Farmer\" - A Game Presented by John Deere For Over 100 Years, Makers Of Quality Farm Equipment, dated 1938! This game is an original John Deere collectible, probably presented as a promotional giveaway by a dealership, John Deere did a re-release of this game in 1998- this one is NOT the 1998 edition, but the original 1938 publication of the game. The game is printed on heavy card stock type paper and is a tri-fold board. The game is the only complete example I can find - this one has the game board with spinner and 6 player pieces or tokens punched out of cardstock, each one is a different color so you can tell the players apart. (I sold the only other one previously listed on , it was in worse condition with no game player pieces).
The outside cover of the game looks very good, slightly yellowed, and the inside is fabulous! The seal where the game was sealed shut is torn cleanly torn through where it was sealed/taped shut, seal remains on both sides. Inside of cardboard game the colors are nice and bright and only one or two small areas shows stains- noticeably 1/4\" stain on spinner area. Still has original spinner. The game has the players spin the spinner and move through the board which is heavily illustrated with images of tractors and machinery in the field and cute cartoon images. There are neat facts that advertise the benefits of using Deere equipment on the squares throughout the game, when you win you reap great profits using Deere equipment! There are 6 tokens or pieces still with the game, each one a different color- pink, green, brown, white on black, black on white and green on white, each one has the leaping deer on front and back. Has original green and yellow John Deere address label on the front, no US postal stamps on the envelope. The envelope does have a couple of tears and missing pieces along folded edge and a couple of tiny pieces of old clear scotch tape.
This is the only complete example with the original game pieces, game board and envelope that I have been able to find anywhere on the net! Since this was made in 1938 to find a complete example with all the pieces is quite rare!This is an amazing vintage John Deere collectible! Perfect for the farmer or John Deere Collector in your life- would be a great display if framed!
