This is a very interesting little plate - I am not really sure what to say about it - apart from the fact that it appears to be an extremely rare little transfer printed plate dating to the mid - late 19th century.It is a miniature item - with a diameter of only 9.5 cm.It is made of earthenware - and quite crudely made - but is a rare little image of a 19th century soldier, whom I think is part of theUK Rifle Volunteers.It is one of two that I am listing this week - and happy to post internationally and also to combine postage on both.This one is a miniature plate or pin dish with a slumped centre. The design is transfer printed and then glazed over.

This one features an image of a trainee soldier aiming his rifle. He stands in a landscape with river flowing behind him.The plate is unmarked - so this gives me no help as to the origin of this rare little plate.It is a slightly creamy colour. One tiny nibble on this one to the bottom edge - more of a discoloured fleabite I suppose than a loss. There is a tiny, finest of fine -star cracks (not coming through and completely stable and fine).Taken lots of photographs for your inspection.Listed at a bargain starting price and this in now way reflects the rarity of these little plates - probably wee museum items - find another?
