Description

Rare berry serving console with large center bowl for berries, creamer and lidded sugar bowl. Three parts - the base console with attached pedestal bowl (which can spin around), with companion lidded sugar and creamer. Of silverplate/quadruple. By Simpson Hall, Miller of Wallingford CT, founded in 1866 by Samuel Simpson (which merged into International in 1898), known for fine quality silver plate wares. Very handsome and impressive piece in real life, equally appropriate for use or display. Notice the chased detailing on the pedestal rim.

SIZE: Bowl top rim opening is about 8 1/4\" in diameter. Base platform width is about 12 1/2\" wide and total width (with the creamer and sugar in place) is about 15 1/2\". Height is about 8\".

MARKS: Simpson, Hall, Miller & Co Quadruple Plate mark on bases as shown in photos. I believe the \"200\" on the base is the pattern number, rather than the form number.

CONDITION: Late 19th century antique item. Expect noticeable wear to the silver plate mainly on the high surfaces, including the ribs. I am not seeing any dents, but given its age, there many be a few tiny ones of no consequence. A beautiful form, very nice as is but also would be a worthy candidate for replating/restoration if you prefer a newer look.
