Antique Chinese Incised DecoratedPewter Ink Paste Box, 19th Century

We are pleased to offer a rare antique Chinese incised decorated,pewter ink paste box made in the latter part of the 19th Century.Of a circular footed form with beautifully incised outersurfaces. The center top portion being of pomegranate fruits & foliage, followed by a roll of scroll work, then a band of alternating birds and flowering peach blooms on the shoulder. The lower footed half decorated with a leafy vine and finally another roll of scroll work surrounding the foot. Under the lid is an impressed maker\'s mark which we are not able to decipher (see photographs). The underside of the base has three older paper labels and the remnants of a forth. One label is redmarked \"China\", the other label \"9\". The third label, bordered in red has ink inscriptions that are blurred and not legible by us. The remnants of the fourth label appear to have been removed and with no information showing (see photograph). Measurements: The box stands approximately 1 1/2 inches in height. It is approximately2 1/2 inches in diameter. The foot is approximately 2 1/4 inches in diameter. All measurements are approximate, but close.

Condition: We examined this item carefully. There are a few tiny nicks, bends or light scratches scattered about the surfaces. None are distracting, but mentioned for accuracy. There is a slight bend to the rim of the lid and also on the foot. There are scratched lettering or marks on the underside near the labels. Please remember that this item is antique, but overall, the piece is in very good condition for its age. NO other issues were noted. Please take the time to review all photographs for more details.
