Here is a rare antique Austrian bronze PUPPY with an 1882 dated English Registry Mark.This fine antique Vienna bronze Puppy Dog is quite unusual in that he has the English Registry Mark on his underside. Some of the 19th century Austrian bronzes were stamped with this mark which was used from 1842 to 1883. You can Google “English Registry Marks” to learn more about them, and they usually are found on china and pottery, and some Austrian bronzes. From the letters and numbers on this mark, and using the charts on line, I could date this bronze to June 26, 1882.This bronze Puppy is a nice size at 3 1/4 inches long by 2 inches tall, he is also signed DEPOSE on his tummy and GESCHUTZ 502 on his hind leg along with the English Registry Mark. His paint is in excellent condition, he is dark brown with a cream colored tummy. His right hind leg has a round circle of bronze attached to it which looks like a holder of some sort, maybe a match holder. This circle is only attached to the side of his foot and looks like it could be removed quite easily. This is how I got him years ago when I bought him.A rare 1882 dated antique Austrian bronze dog offered at a reasonable price, this cute pup would make a great addition to any Austrian bronze collection.This bronze will be well packed and insured so that he arrives safely.
