VERY RARE MUSEUM QUALITY- pre CIVIL WAR era - Antique circa 1830\'s era Oliver Ames Entrenching or Garden Shovel with super early dual front and back hand riveted supports with nice wood D style handle - in quite good used condition for the age and rarity - however there is a split running part way down the handle

This exceptional early Antique Oliver Ames Shovel can quite easily be dated to 1820\'s through early 1840\'s early by the very scarce front and back riveted supports. The Ames Shovel Company began making shovels in the late 18th Century with the first back strapped shovels being made roughly 1817 just after the Trip Hammer Patent was signed by President Madison is 1810. Wood handled shovels were originally manufactured by Ames in 1824 with this very shovel showing all the characteristics of an 1820\'s - 1840\'s model back strapped wood handle shovel. This is truly an exceptional piece of American Tool and Ames Shovel History and with most of the earliest Ames Shovels in the Stonehill College Museum collection in Easton Massachusetts, this is one of the earliest Ames Shovels you will find not in a museum. This was located on a centuries old horse farm just one town over from Easton in Brockton MA and it\'s an amazing piece of Antique Americana and with the Carved Wood Handle Folk Art and Treen History too. It is just under 30\" long and the spade shovel is right at 7\" wide. This is a true Museum Quality Tool by Ames Shovel being sold exactly as it was found not yet cleaned in any way, with outstanding patina and light rust from the age plus a split in the handle, but overall this is a terrific example of a roughly 200 year old American made shovel and you simply won\'t have the opportunity to purchase an Ames Shovel this old everyday, so take advantage!!

Please check the pictures carefully for the exact age and condition, it\'sold and nice for the age!!

Make a fair offer and it\'ll be yours, wait and it\'ll be gone for sure
