This gorgeous 15k solid yellow gold brooch/watch pin is arare piece of Belle Epoque jewelry made in France between 1850 to 1910.
Pale blue champléve enamelling accents the yellow gold and green tourmaline.There is loss to the enamel as can be seen in the photos. Such loss, we feel, does not detract from the overall beauty of this piece.
The gold metal tests slightly higher than 14K but lower than 18K. It was not unusual to have 15K gold used in jewelry during this period.
The small green center stone has tested as tourmaline.
The pin measures 1\" in diameter.
Weight is 3 grams.
The clasp is an early \"C\" clasp. (The pin portion or the clasp is not gold.)There is a bail for on the back - originally used for hanging a watch. A competent jeweler could solder this bail closed so the piece can be worn as a pendant.
