BRASS PEACOCK -

Acquired at an estate sale is this brass peacock withhinged lidded top body and tail. Thereis a hallmark on the top of the lid on the body – see photos. The two compartments are not connected toeach other. My research has not beenable to identify the hallmark or exactly what this item is or used for. Measures 11 inches tall to the top of thehead, 18 inches long from the bill to the tip of the tail, about 7 incheswide. Appears rivets were used on allhinges, joints, etc… Great patina allover. Each lid has a lever or hook thatslides to keep the lid closed. There isno evidence of any structural damage or cracks. The photos are part of the description.
