RARE GEORGIAN c1800 TOOLED LEATHER KNIFE BOX WITH SOLID SILVER CUTLERY SET
Onoffer is an exceptional Georgian (c1800) knife / cutlery box with tooled leather covering and original brass mounts.
Coming with a solid silver cutlery set. Including 6 three prong forks and 6 knifes with steel blades / prongs and twelve spoons of three graduated sizes (table; dessert and tea). Spoons solid silver. Forks and knifes with cased solid silver handles.
Blades to knifes marked \'r elang\'. Handles marked N referring to Nurnbery c1710, but perhaps later. Spoons with loth mark of 13 (812 grade silver) and also N (later mark). Two spoons with full marks for Neresheimer (late 19th Century).Two spoons lacking marks - rubbed, but solid silver. All bar one spoon numbered with initials of original owner. One three prong fork is a replacement - with English hallmarks forJohn Liasc1800. Weight spoons 350 grams.
The set is therefore ofAustria-Hungary / Germany-Prussia origin.
Height box 28 cm. Length forks ea 21 cm. Conditiongood. Cutlery in excellent order - light wear - one knife with slight movement from handle, but secure. Box with wear / some cracking commensurate with age, but again in full working order.
Total weight with secure packaging 4 kgs. Will be posted via Royal Mail / Parcelforce(fully tracked).
