This is a genuine sugar sifter spoon made by the most famous female Georgian silversmith of all time - Hester Bateman, and thus, highly collectable. Many \"sifter spoons \" were originally ladles which were then pierced and passed off as sifter spoons. The difference can be seen in the shape of the bowl. Genuine sifter spoons have a slightly flattened base whereas ladles are rounded.
There is star & lozenge bowl piercing. The handle is Old English pattern with a wriggle worked border. It is engraved with a script \"S \" initial.

In beautiful condition with no obvious damage.
