The Indus Valley Civilization was a Bronze Age civilization (3300–1300 BCE) that was located in the northwestern region of the Indian subcontinent
The Indus Valley is one of the world\'s earliest urban civilizations, along with its Egypt. At its peak, the Indus Civilization may have had a population of well over five million. Inhabitants of the ancient Indus river valley developed new techniques in handicraft (carnelian products, seal carving) and metallurgy (copper, bronze, lead, and tin). The civilization is noted for its cities built of brick, roadside drainage system, and multistory houses
The Indus Valley Civilization is also known as the Harappan Civilization, as the first of its cities to be unearthed was located at Harappa
During the Late Harappan period craftsmen began to work with bronze, copper silver and gold, fashioning simple necklaces, arm-bands, bangles and other ornamentation from cast metalwork
Both men and women of the Indus Valley Civilization wore ornaments made of gold, silver, copper and other metals. Men wore necklaces, finger rings and armlets of various designs and shapes. The women wore a head dress, ear rings, bangles, girdles, bracelets and anklets. Rich people wore expensive ornaments made of gold and silver while the poor had ornaments made of shell, bone or copper
