For your consideration is a copy of the “preview” issue ofPlaygirl magazine from January 1973, created and distributed on a limited basisto test the market’s readiness for this type of magazine and to assessforthcoming advertising support.
This issue from January 1973, was the first of two ‘preview’issues which were published, featuresUSACChampionship race cardriver Mike Hiss as the centerfold (although his helmet was strategicallyplaced) as well as poetry, short stories, humorous and serious articles.Although the cover disclaimer disavows any association with Playboy Magazine,Playgirl was sued by the company in 1973, a dispute which was settled out ofcourt. The official inaugural issue of Playgirl, Volume I, Number I was notpublished until June of the same year.
Magazine is 8.5\" W x 11.0\" H and in excellentcondition!
