JohnByrne (bornJuly 6, 1950) is a British-born American comic-bookwriter and artist. Since the mid-1970s, Byrne has worked on many major Americansuperheroes. Byrne\'s better-known workhas been on MarvelComics’ X-Men and Fantastic Four and the 1986 relaunch of DC Comics’ Superman franchise. Coming into thecomics profession exclusively as a penciler, Byrne began co-plotting the X-Mencomics during his tenure on them, and launched his writing career in earnestwith Fantastic Four (where he started inking his own pencils). In 2015,Byrne and his X-Men collaborator Chris Claremont were entered into the Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame.
