RARE LARGE ANTIQUE CARVED CUCKOO WITH 4 ANIMALS:
$455.00

This shield style cuckoo is a rarity in that it has four different animals carved on it. An ibex head at the top, a rabbit on the left, a pheasant at the right, and on the bottom a dog! The bone numbers sit on raised wood cartouche and the old bone hands look great. It is 23\" tall by 151/2\" wide. I do not believe that the pendulum is original nor the back. The massive spring driven pinned brass movement is only identified with a \'28\' stamped on it. The cuckoo bird is wooden, articulated and mounted on a wood perch. I believe the bellow on the right to be replaced as are both bellow tops.
I have tried to describe it as best I can, but please email if you have questions. Thanks for looking.
Please take a look at my other items at sale. I am in the process of reducing my collection and clearing stuff out.

is this clock swiss or german? the carving looks to be swiss but i can\'t tell for sure. thanks very much.I cant really tell you and it is hard to ever be certain. At that time, parts for these clocks could be sourced from different locations--so could be German movement and Swiss carved case or French, or all German.hi, does this clock work? any repairs to the carvings? any cracks or missing pieces to the carvings? thanks very much.
The clock has been running on my wall since about 7AM yesterday (24+ hours now). I had it serviced some number of years ago and ran it pretty regularly for awhile. Then new clocks came in and it got put on a back wall. Seems to do fine.
I took it down and looked at the back and front. Whoever did the repairs did a great job. I think the rabbits feet were broken and re-glued. The leaf at the rabbit\'s stomach looks like a restoration also possibly the leaf to the left of the ibex head. I think his horns have been re-glued and/or repaired. Again even looking from the back some of this is hard to tell. A great job was done.
