RARE ANTIQUE FRENCH C19th TERRACOTTA MUSTARD YELLOW GLAZED WINE/WATER PITCHER CRUCHE

This rare and large antique French terracotta Pitcher or Cruche (Gargoulette) dates to the 19th century.This wonderful French antique water/wine carrier cruche is full of character and history. It has been much loved during its long history. some small chips to the glaze but one of the best examples I have seen and complete with lid. A great collectors item and it has a very decorative appeal- see photos. This timeworn antique French wine carrying cruche would make a stunning decorative addition for any French style setting. It has a classic to this area of south west France glaze of stunning mustard yellow to the upper half - a colour particular to the south-west region of France. The lower part of the pot is natural terracotta. It has a carrying handle at the top and a pouring spout to one side. This rare 19th century French cruche was for carrying and pouring wine or water and would now make wonderful, and useful, decorative addition for a French style cuisine. It stands 41 cms ( 16 ins) high, is 28 cms (11 ins) in diameter at its widest and weighs 3.5 kilogrammes. This rare antique French farmhouse pitcher cruche is brimming with character and history.
