This listing is for a large and very early carved wood statue of what appears to be a female saint. The carving most likely dates to the 18th century and is polychrome decorated and has hand carved and inlaid face and hands. The detail of work is of great quality. The figure stands on a carved pedestal base which is also painted and has a face carved in the front. We have seen similar carvings of this age and quality sell in the thousands of dollars. It stands 21 inches tall and is in nice condition for the age. As expected there is wear and loss to the paint and some age splits in the wood. Finally the figure rocks slightly where it attaches to the base.
