Up for your consideration, we are offering this Rare Meiji Era (1868-1912) Japanese Takara Bune. In the Japanese tradition, on New Year Eve, the Takara Bune (meaning “Treasure Boat\") travels to ports to bring gifts and good luck to those who believe in it. This Treasure Boat comprises of 2 pieces of Japanese Red Lacquer on Iron. On its deck are depicted different symbols for luck and prosperity. This Treasure Boat is truly unique since it holds an additonal treasure. It is inscribed in gold color japanese characters on the underside of the hull. Treasure Boats from this period are seldom offered and with the addition of the inscription, makes this Treasure Boat very rare and a real treasure indeed. A quick check on the internet brought up two similar Treasure Boats one selling for $345 and the other for $850 (minus the inscription). The boat itself measures approximately 12\" tall by 11 1/4\" long, and 6 1/4\" wide. It is in fine antique condition with its original red Lacquer finish.
