lighting and illumination design. The Italians took the design lead at this time,
with extremely innovative and often whimsical lamp designs.
Gino Sarfatti, who founded Arteluce, was practically obsessed with lighting
and lighting design. His creativity, and that of many others, really set a trend
that traveled all over the world and spurred this renaissance of modern,
functional lighting with the absolute highest sense of style and aesthetics.This boom arm lamp strikes an imposing presence and is the peak
of illumination art! An enormous marble slab is used as a base
upon which an articulating boom arm permits a saucer type shade
to be elevated or lowered as desired. Italians really pulled out all
the stops and so naturally these lamps were quite expensive and
saw very limited production.This is one of the most magnificent examples of the boom arm desk lamp
we have encountered. It commands respect and one realizes this
is not just a lamp - this is a work of mid century art!The lamp has wear to the brass, enameled shade and marble base.
Inline switch turns a single bulb on or off. Brass arms show
some scratches from being moved around.This lamp is just beautiful and is one
of the finest and most distinguished desk lamps in the world.
It\'s design is so timeless that it fits into a modern decor of today.
